It’s that time of year again. Smile through gritted teeth. It’s time to hunt down ‘that’ dress. The elusive dress that ticks all the boxes. It’s A) a beautiful colour, B) a beautiful shape and C) actually fits. Standing in at 5’2″ I am not going to be scouted by a model agency any time soon and there are a certain number of shops that I simply avoid buying dresses in. I have experience of midi dresses fitting like maxi dresses and maxi dresses trailing along the floor. However, over the years I have found a good number of retailers that think of the shorter girl, either in dedicated petite sections or by carrying a few styles that are cut to a slightly shorter length.
Here are a few of my favourite looks online at the moment. I think the midi dress is the ultimate wedding guest look at the moment. More modern than shorter styles and without the try-hard nature of some maxi dresses. Skirt and top combos are also a great option as they can easily be worn again and mixed with other items in your wardrobe. Been invited to a number of weddings this summer? Lucky you! Buy a nice neutral skirt and change the top for each one. No one will know any better.
